Well BETT 2017 is over for another year and many us now suffer from the common problem, BETTlag. 4 days, 29 hours and 35,000 people makes for an awful lot of conversations, walking and exploring.
So what was the stand out things for me from BETT 2017 – VR. Many different companies were showcasing VR content from Google and their expeditions to ClickView and their content. Is VR a ‘game changer’ as BETT invited us to explore, probably only time will tell. It certainly enables educators to provide different and more immersive learning opportunities, but how that translates into everyday lessons with 30 students is yet to be fully explored.

The other big change for me, the every growing ‘internationalness’ of BETT. Wednesday was always a big international presence and that has spilled over into Thursday in latter years, this year it was noticeable how many international visitors had given up their Saturday to attend. It was also noticeable how different Education Ministries had prioritised BETT and had their own stands. BETT London is now THE go to education technology show in the world.
At Skooler we were thrilled by the response we had from our visitors during the show and it was so exciting to speak to so many of you about how you were transitioning to cloud services, what your next steps on that journey would be. We also heard from many of you that you thought finally the industry had started to realise there needed to be some convergence of disparate systems to improve ease of use for teachers.
We showcased our ‘world first’ integration with Microsoft Word and our new user interface and thank you for the very positive comments and feedback we received. If you came to talk to us, we’ll be in touch over the next week or so and we’d love to come and see you and show you Skooler in the calmness of your school. If you didn’t have a chance to visit us and wished you had, then you can either wait for BETT 2018 or you can see what it’s all about here.
